THE GREEN HOTEL KINROSS
CURLING and SOCIAL WEEKEND 2011

East Kilbride & Haremyres CC Green Hotel London Gin Weekend
London Gin Weekend Green Hotel Kinross 2011 the Low Road Runners Up
......Brian Cassidy...........Sheena Drummie............Stela Cassidy.......Alan Drummie and the Iceman Steven

We came up for the curling to Kinross, along with the usual crew,
To play a few games in the ice rink , and to have a wee bit of a do.
there was food and a'drinking a'plenty, Its always all right at the Green
and when George Brown wakes up on the Monday,he gen'rally cant mind where he's been.
With Braidholm,Dunoon and the Beechnuts, Its great to see the auld faces,
Cos they're social and right friendly curlers, Helping Archie tie up his shoe laces.
That Delphine was looking right sprightly, She was watching what meals that she ate,
She told me last night , I believe her, She'd lost five stones of her weight
I told her I felt for her losses, but worrying only was silly
I think Jackie Craigs maybe found it, brought it home and given it to Willie.
The rinks were selected by Ronnie, who thought he was up for romance,
But the way that they played on the Saturday, Collette might just give him a dance.
We were all well gubbed in the first game, and went to the foot o'the pile,
Among the East Kilbride curlers, there wasn't a hint of a smile.
John Strang had Big Tam and Auld Archie, and Linda in with the mix
The only impressive performance was the way that they handled their sticks.
Lillias is planning a Barbie, in the summer, where we can get a bit fu'
She'll no' be needing the charcoal, we're going to burn Jimmy Kings cue.
The day was full of much banter, great laughing and joking and fun.
But the next bloody Beechnut thats laughing I'll blow off their head with a gun.
The dancing was great in the evening, the floor was full fit to burst
Our gentlemens dancing was rubbish and the ladies a awfy lot worse.
The drink was slow coming all evening, the kitty refused to go down,
With the East Kilbride wine waiter Brian, on the dance floor acting the clown.
King willie, was awsome as usual and leapt straight up to the till
just ordered it up as required, and let Cassidy pick up the bill
A subdued bunch of East Kilbride curlers, came on Sunday down to the rink
It was plain to all the onlookers, they'd too much aerobics and drink
By the time for our lunch on the Sunday, the results were all counted and in
The high road was out of the Question, The low Road was all we could win
And up in the hack was A Drummie to salvage a bit of club pride
Sheena, the Cassidys also, and a Bunnet 'neath which he could hide.
For winning was not deadly certain, Delphines nuts, they stood in his way,
He gave up a 4 in the second It was not going to be Alans day
We made runner up in the low road, a shadow of days gone before
But we all had a great time together, Agnes says that we'll be back for more
We used to have some reputation,Folk feared East Kilbride for a game,
Like Delphine we were only a shadow, Well get some stick when we get back hame.

THE GREEN HOTEL KINROSS
CURLING and SOCIAL WEEKEND 2010

The Kinross Weekend,
it was as good as ever.....................Dr Colette Maule
and her three "Geriatrics.......................Lead.... Archie "Stick" McFarlane
......................................................Second.... Jean "Don't tell me...... she's still curling"
and her husband..............................Tom.... "Big Stick" Neilson.
were worthy of their final place.....with the "stickmen"....not quite able to handle a broom
it fell to Jean to sweep her heart out and she certainly did.
I hope you are having a quiet week Jean with your ltr and a half of GIN.
The other geriatrics on the weekend would like to know what potion the good doctor
had up her sleeve that so inspired her team to scale the heights of Abraham???
They gave Big Willie King a right ....mauling.....in the run up to the final of the High Road.
Only to meet Wee Drummie and his high class rink of younger curlers in the Final
......................................................Lead...."The Ever Young" Sheena Drummie
......................................................Second....Willie "Don't have to get up early any more" Craig
and his goood lady wife at..............Third....Jackie " American Tourist 2011"
......................................... who had swept.............away all opposition before them
including the overly verbose Tommy Campbell....( we even heard him whistle a lonely forlorn tune)...
and his overly substituted rink of Kings and Strangs.............................................
before them to make the final also.

The Final........Maule..V..Drummie......or if you like....Wee Drummie...V...Maule.

The geriatrics looked good for most of the High Road Final till the eighth end
when the good Dr must have run out of the magic potion and the geriatrics looked pretty jaded.
"Wee D" was lying three sufficient to tie the game and force a "draw the shot" for the outcome.
Down on the hack went the good Doctor..............................
we could only stand and stare knowing we'd have to take what ever bitter pill she dispensed.
A cracking stone played to promote her own in amongst ours.......the game was Colette's
the bitter pill was ours...........none the less coming home with two bottles of London Gin
from a good weekend's curling with friends can't be sneezed at.
Well done Colette......come back next year and give us a repeat dose.

Runners up in the low road were TC and his rink of Jimmy King one game and Lillias
with George and Agnes Strang for the rest..............the low road crown was stolen by Elaine Turnbull
who had a free transfer to the Beechnuts....................................
TC failed to offer enough inducements to hold her contract.
Twenty four members and friends had a very good weekends curling and social.
