THE WALDIE-GRIFFITH INTER-PROVINCE COMPETITION

George Waldie Griffith of Hendersyde Park, Roxburghshire
donated the Challenge Cup to the Kelso Club around 1909, who in turn
suggested to the R.C.C.C. that it be played for nationally at province level.

The competition, played each year between all the curling provinces
is known as "The Waldie Griffith" and the Province which gains
the highest average majority of shots per team over its opponents
is declared the winner of the Challenge Cup, which they hold for one year.

East Kilbride and Haremyres had a good win as part of the Lanarkshire Province Team
this season 2007/08 being overall winners on the day at Hamilton.
The rink skipped by George Strang with Agnes Strang and Alan and Sheena Drummie
winning their game 17 shots to nil helped the province to attain
an average of 5.5 shots per team over Dumfriesshire Province.

This eventually proved to be sufficient for
Lanarkshire Province to be declared Waldie Griffith Winners
for season 2007/08 at the RCCC AGM in June 2008.
The winning rink of course being, East Kilbride & Haremyres CC .
